My Philosopy
Oldman Woodcrafts is located in Stevenson, Alabama. The “oldman”, Jim McKee, is a self-taught woodturner that has been honing his artistic skills and abilities since 2018. I believe that every piece of wood has a story to tell and contains beauty that only nature can provide. I also believe, that as a woodturner, my only limitation is my imagination. So, when I mount that piece of wood on the lathe, I strive to bring the wood’s story and beauty to life. At an early age, the “oldman’s” father taught him that if a job is worth doing, it should be done right or not at all. So, my driving belief and philosophy is "if the product does not meet or live up to the “oldman’s” standards, it will never leave the shop".
My Creative Process
Oldman Woodcrafts specializes in creating heirloom quality, custom made products, from various hardwood species, exotic and domestic, and custom resin pours. All resin pours include various dyes and pigments to create a one-of-a-kind product with layers of depth and movement. I use a variety of hardwoods from local sources and individuals who share the same commitment to quality and sustainability, as well as reclaimed and salvaged materials, to create one-of-a-kind pieces that are both beautiful and eco-friendly. Any product that has the potential to come into direct contact with food will have a food safe finish applied.

Oldman Woodcrafts creates heirloom quality, custom made products which includes: Writing Instruments, Bottle Stoppers, Bowls, Platters, Wine Glasses, Goblets, Celtic Wedding (captive ring) Goblets, Kitchen Accessories, Grilling Tools, Charcuterie / Serving Boards, Custom Made Rings, etc. Custom made products are available upon request.
